What SawYield is

SawYield is a wood cut-list volume and cost calculator for woodworking and furniture shops. You enter a list of parts with their dimensions, and it works out the volume, area, material use (including cutting waste), and the total cost.

Who it is for

For anyone who works with wood — from a solo maker to a large production shop. A quote is almost always built from the cost of raw material in cubic meters or board feet — that’s exactly what SawYield does: a fast, precise volume and cost calculation from a drawing or cut list.

What it calculates

  • Volume and area from a part's length, width, and thickness
  • Material cost from a price per m³ or m²
  • A cutting-waste and defect allowance (%), added to the totals
  • Multiple projects and materials at once, with per-project and combined totals

How it works

  1. Enter your parts

Sizes and quantities — typed in or scanned from a drawing or photo.

My stock: use what you already have

Record the boards, beams, sheets and offcuts in your workshop. For every part of the project the calculator finds a matching piece in stock, shows the cutting plan and puts the usable remainder back on the shelf.

  • An exact size first, then offcuts, then whole boards
  • A cutting plan with kerf, scrap and remainders
  • The estimate splits what comes from stock and what to buy
